The queue system for purchasing the Steam Deck, Valve's console/PC hybrid for mobile gaming, is finally over. The machine is now available for immediate purchase - along with its dock, which has been expected for months.

Après la significative amélioration de l’approvisionnement de cartes graphiques de ces derniers mois, c’est maintenant le Steam Deck, le fameux PC de jeu aux allures de console portable de Valve, qui est parvenu à dompter la demande dont il fait l’objet. Sept mois après son lancement fin février 2022, la machine est désormais disponible à l’achat “instantané” et s’est enfin débarrassée du système de réservation et file d’attente mis en place initialement.

This immediate availability concerns at the time of writing two of the three variants offered for the Steam Deck, namely the 256GB and 512GB models - for which Valve announces a shipment one to two weeks after the order. On the other hand, for the entry-level 64GB model, reservations are still required, for a promised availability in December.

The dock is finally available too

At the same time, without warning, Valve has also just made the machine's docking station available. Initially presented at the same time as the Steam before being repeatedly postponed Deck, this station acts as a USB-C hub, giving the machine three USB-A 3.1 ports, an Ethernet network port and two video outputs (DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0). This reinforces the hybridity of the machine, which then becomes both nomadic and domestic, on the model of the Nintendo Switch. However, for those who wish, this function can also be fulfilled by almost all standard USB-C hubs on the market, with which the Steam Deck is perfectly compatible.

The dock is available exclusively on the Steam store (as is the Steam Deck itself), for €99.
